We noticed early in our careers that we sometimes used terminology that our clients didn’t seem to understand. We did two things. First we tried to avoid terminology that could be confusing. Second, we searched for a guide for common building/construction terms. We found this handy list of construction terms many years ago. Unfortunately we can’t quote the author of the work. We have added and made some alterations to this list over the years but the original work was not ours. Perhaps this list will assist you when you are trying to translate your architect or contractors language.
